Restaurants, hotels, bars, and hospitality businesses across Florida trust Serve It Up Safe for compliance training and professional development. From independent restaurants in Orlando to multi-unit groups in Tampa, our students and hospitality teams rely on us for ServSafe Food Manager certification, Food Handler training, Responsible Vendor of Alcohol courses, and private on-site training programs tailored to their operations. In-person classes are held throughout Florida and the Southeast, with online training available nationwide.
The stories below reflect how hospitality businesses throughout Florida – in cities including Tampa, Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Miami, Jacksonville, Fort Myers, Sarasota, and Daytona Beach – have strengthened their food safety practices, maintained compliance, and built more confident teams through Serve It Up Safe.
Florida's hospitality industry operates under strict food safety and alcohol service requirements. Whether a restaurant needs a Certified Food Manager on duty, new hires need Food Handler certificates within 60 days of their start date, or a bar is looking to participate in the Responsible Vendor of Alcohol program, Serve It Up Safe provides restaurant food safety and hospitality compliance training that keeps operations running smoothly.
Our training programs help hospitality teams:
with Florida food safety and alcohol service regulations
Pass the ServSafe Food Manager exam with confidence
Walk into your next DBPR inspection with trained staff, up-to-date certifications, and documented food safety practices your team actually follows
Build a culture of food safety that extends from the kitchen to the front of house
After expanding to a fourth location, the ownership group realized several kitchen managers were overdue for recertification. With Florida requiring a Certified Food Manager on duty, the company needed a fast, reliable solution to get multiple managers certified before their next round of DBPR inspections.
Serve It Up Safe scheduled a private on-site ServSafe Food Manager certification class at their flagship Tampa location. All eight managers attended a single session, completed the computer-based exam, and received immediate results.
All eight managers passed the ServSafe Food Manager exam the same day. The group now maintains a consistent recertification schedule across all four locations, and their most recent inspections went smoothly with zero critical violations.
High seasonal turnover meant the hotel was constantly onboarding new food and beverage staff. Management struggled to get new hires through required Food Handler training within 60 days, and bartenders lacked formal alcohol service training.
The hotel partnered with Serve It Up Safe to run annual in-person Food Handler and Responsible Vendor of Alcohol training sessions on-site. New hires were enrolled automatically as part of the onboarding process.
New employees completed both training programs within their first two weeks. The hotel eliminated compliance gaps during peak season, and the food and beverage director reported noticeably improved confidence among bar staff handling age verification and overservice situations.
The restaurant’s only Certified Food Manager left unexpectedly. With the Food Manager certification valid for five years, the owner had not thought about recertification planning. Suddenly without a certified manager on staff, the restaurant was out of compliance and an inspection was approaching.
The owner enrolled in a Serve It Up Safe public ServSafe Food Manager class in Orlando. Serve It Up Safe provided a computer for the exam, and the owner received immediate results after testing.
The owner passed the exam and restored the restaurant’s compliance the same week. She later enrolled her sous chef in an upcoming class to ensure backup coverage. The restaurant passed its next DBPR inspection without issue.
After an incident involving an overserved patron, the ownership group recognized their bartenders and door staff needed consistent, documented alcohol service training. They wanted to participate in Florida’s Responsible Vendor of Alcohol program to reduce liability exposure.
Serve It Up Safe delivered Responsible Vendor of Alcohol training to all front-of-house staff across the three Miami venues. Training covered ID verification, recognizing signs of intoxication, and proper refusal techniques.
More than 40 employees completed the RVA training during an in-person RVA training. Management reported fewer incidents involving overservice, and RVA certification is now standard operating procedure for all current and new locations.
The catering company had recently won several large-volume contracts and needed to bring on additional kitchen staff quickly. New hires needed Food Handler certificates, and recently promoted shift leads needed Food Manager certification to oversee off-site events independently.
Kitchen staff completed Food Handler training online through Serve It Up Safe, while three shift leads attended a public ServSafe Food Manager class in Jacksonville.
All three shift leads passed the ServSafe exam and earned their five-year Food Manager certification. Kitchen staff completed Food Handler training ahead of the 60-day deadline. The company met its staffing and compliance requirements in time for its largest contract to date.
The resort operated a main dining room, a pool bar, a banquet kitchen, and a grab-and-go café, each with its own management. Training records were inconsistent, and the food and beverage director needed a unified approach to food safety certification for restaurants and hospitality compliance across all outlets.
Serve It Up Safe provided a comprehensive private training package. Department heads attended ServSafe Food Manager certification classes, line staff completed Food Handler training, and all bar personnel completed Responsible Vendor of Alcohol training.
The resort standardized its training records and compliance documentation across all four outlets. Department heads reported that the consistent training framework made it easier to cross-train staff between outlets, and the resort’s most recent health inspections produced the strongest scores in three years.
